Harry Redknapp has revealed he has already been in contact with David Beckham but has warned QPR fans not to expect changes overnight.
Redknapp started his new role as QPR boss on Monday and goes straight into battle at Sunderland on Tuesday night.
But Beckham, who is available after leaving LA Galaxy, is not far from his mind.
Redknapp revealed: "I got a lovely text from David the other day, not about himself, but wishing me the best of luck with QPR.
"I still think he could be a great player at any club but my job is getting points with this group of players."
Redknapp also been linked with a return to his old club for Tottenham defender Michael Dawson.
He added: "Michael is a great player - he was captain at Tottenham but I am not interested in January. I need points tomorrow and at the weekend against Aston Villa with the squad I have."
