Andy Carroll in fight to be fit for West Ham's London derby clash with Chelsea

Andy Carroll in action for West Ham

West Ham will give Andy Carroll every opportunity to prove his fitness ahead of the big London derby against Chelsea on Saturday.

Carroll was forced to leave the field during the second half of West Ham's 1-0 defeat against Manchester United on Wednesday night with a knee injury.

The England forward was being assessed by the club's medical staff at the club's training ground on Thursday and Sam Allardyce is desperate to have him available for the game at Upton Park.

Carroll netted his first goal for the club last weekend following his summer loan move from Liverpool and would love the chance to follow that up in front of the West Ham fans this weekend.

West Ham have lost their last two games against Tottenham and United and will be desperate to get back on the winning trail and inflict more misery on Chelsea's new manager Rafael Benitez.
