West Ham legend Sir Trevor Brooking has praised the impact of the Hammers’ summer signing Mohamed Diame.
The Senegalese international has been a crucial part of West Ham’s success this season since his arrival from Wigan, and it was his second-half introduction that sparked the Hammers’ comeback in their 3-1 win against Chelsea on Saturday.
“The lad has been a revelation for us,” Brooking told Drive Time.
“I think Sam thought he was a bit tired because he’s had some hard games recently, so he only came on in the second half, but Diame has been fantastic.
“He’s been the player of the season really.”
Sir Trevor also praised manager Sam Allardyce for exceeding his own expectations for the season, with West Ham currently sitting in eighth place in the Premier League table.
“Sam’s done a really good job, we would have snapped your hands off to have 22 points at this stage of this season.”
