Villa keen on Serbian starlet but Roma leading chase

Aston Villa have joined the race for Serbian wonderkid Filip Jankovic but risk losing out to Roma.

The 17-year-old has been tipped as a future star after breaking in to the senior squad at Red Star Belgrade.

But he is not expected to hang around for long, with a string of clubs ready to take a £3m gamble and sign him.

Reports in Italy have suggested that Villa are one of the clubs vying with Roma to land Jankovic, a classy playmaker.

Scouts from Porto and Dynamo Kiev have also been impressed but it has been suggested that Villa and Roma are currently the front-runners.
