Gary Lineker believes Tottenham can challenge Chelsea for third place in the Premier League – and believes this current Spurs squad is destined for big things.
The Lilywhites have won four of their last five Premier League fixtures after a 1-0 victory against Swansea.
Andre Villas-Boas’ men are currently fourth in the table, on the same points as the Blues, but having played one more fixture.
And ex-White Hart Lane favourite Lineker believes a Champions League position should be the least his former side expects.
When asked whether Tottenham could stay in the top four, he said: “I think so when you look at their squad. They’re as competitive as any other team.
“Man United, Man City and Chelsea are probably the most likely top three, but Spurs could challenge Chelsea for that third spot.
“Spurs have got the makings of being a very good team,” he added. “They’ve got a very strong squad and good depth if they suffer one or two injuries. I think they can do it [qualify for the Champions League next season].”
