Brad Friedel has put pen-to-paper on a new contract that will keep him at Tottenham Hotspur until 2014.
The veteran goalkeeper, 41, has recently been displaced from Spurs’ number one spot by French star Hugo Lloris but he remains important to the club and they have tied him down to an extended deal, which will run until he is 43.
He later tweeted: “Off to Birmingham now. Very happy about the new contract! As I have always said I'm very happy here and will help Spurs in any role!!”
Earlier this season Friedel became the first player to play in more the 300 games consecutively.
