Manchester United star Wayne Rooney will be out for up to three weeks with a knee injury, Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed.
The England striker missed their dramatic 4-3 win over Newcastle United at Old Trafford and after the game his manager admitted the 26-year-old has tweaked a ligament.
He will now definitely miss the Red Devils’ clashes with West Brom and Wigan and will be a huge doubt for their FA Cup tie with West Ham and a Premier match with rivals Liverpool on January 13.
"It was a volley towards the end of training [that did it]," said Ferguson.
"He did a ligament at the back of his knee and could be out for two to three weeks."
