Former Liverpool star Steve Nicol reckons their new look strike force can help them to victory over rivals Manchester United.
“At home, Manchester United have looked vulnerable on the counter attack,” he told the Weekend Sports Breakfast.
“Liverpool will make some chances because defensively I don’t think the full-backs for Manchester United are particularly great. Evra is still a great player but he’s not the player he was and Rafael on the other side is more interested in going forward than defending.
“Sterling and Sturridge can definitely cause them problems and you know Suarez is going to cause Vidic and Evans problems.
“Liverpool have to be solid. They have to win the ball high up the field. If they do that they can definitely cause Manchester Untied problems.
“Sterling will play and he has pace. Suarez’s pace is between in his ears. He might not be the greatest in a one-on-one race but the way his brain works he gets himself time and that’s where he makes up for it.
“The question is whether Sturridge plays. I just don’t see how you can pay £12million for somebody to make your team better and not play them. He has to play. He has pace. He has potential.”
