David Platt has played down speculation that Mario Balotelli is set to leave Manchester City.

The wayward Italian has constantly been linked to AC Milan throughout the January transfer window, but the Blues appear reluctant to reduce their £24million valuation of the striker.

Manager Roberto Mancini has said the 22-year-old is not for sale but fresh reports emerged, over the weekend, claiming negotiations between the two clubs have begun.

But Blues first-team coach Platt insists the former Inter Milan man is staying at the Etihad.

"I saw that speculation yesterday but I've not heard anything," he said. "As far as we are concerned I think he is still a Manchester City player. I don't think there is anything is going to happen."
