Christopher Samba insists he’s ready to get stuck straight in to QPR’s battle to stay in the Premier League.
The former Blackburn star has moved to Loftus Road in a club record £12.5m move from Russian club Anzhi, and is likely to be pitched straight into action against Norwich at the weekend, despite admitting he is short of sharpness.
He told talkSPORT: “I’m very happy [with the move] and I look forward to going into battle and trying to remain in the Premier League.
“My first game [for QPR] was not meant to be for a little while but the team has needs. I’m not the fittest [at the moment] but I will see what I can do.”
Samba is delighted to be back in England and admits the move to Russia had been difficult for his family.
He added: “Anzhi is a very good club with very good people. They did a lot for me. But it was difficult family wise. There is a lot of stuff that money can’t buy. And to be close to my sons was a reason to come back.
“I have the opportunity to be close to my family at a good club and I will do my best and hope it will be enough.”
