New Liverpool signing Philippe Coutinho has the experience to handle the pressure and pace of English football, according to assistant manager Colin Pascoe.
Many pundits and Reds fans have doubted whether the Brazilian starlet has the physicality to cope with life in the Premier League.
But Pascoe has insisted the 20-year-old’s time in the Italian and Spanish top flights - with Inter Milan and Espanyol - has given him the necessary knowledge and flexibility to deal with what the English game has to throw at him.
"He has played a lot of games from a young age," said Liverpool’s assistant boss.
"What we have got there is a young talent who has played a lot for Inter Milan and Espanyol.
"He is a young lad but what we have seen of him he can handle this type of pressure and he will be a good asset for us.
"He plays wide left, he can play as a number 10, and he likes to take defenders on and has a great awareness of his team-mates.”
Unfortunately for the Reds, Coutinho will not be available to play against Manchester City at the weekend, as Inter and Liverpool work to iron out the creases of his much welcomed arrival at Anfield.
"He has to sort a few things out in Milan,” added Pascoe.
“But he'll be back next week and he'll be ready to start straight away. He will be a great addition to the squad."
