David Ginola believes Tottenham have a good enough squad to land a top four place – even though they didn’t sign a striker in the January transfer window.
Many believe Spurs look light up front with Jermain Defoe and makeshift forward Clint Dempsey the only recognisable hitmen at White Hart Lane while Emmanuel Adebayor is away on African Cup of Nations duty.
But Ginola, who played for White Hart Lane club between 1997 and 2000, believes stars such as Gareth Bale can secure the club a Champions League place.
“Tottenham can do it [finish fourth], that’s for sure,” he told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast. “It’s a long season and there are a lot of games. They’ve shown in the past they can win important games, getting fourth place is well within their reach.”
“As long as Gareth Bale is doing the same thing that he is doing in the last few weeks, they will be fine.
“I’m not really worried about Tottenham not signing a striker. The manager will find a way to play the best he can without fantastic strikers.
“They have the squad to do well. I have no doubts at all that the football that they are playing at the moment is good enough.
“They are improving and the way they pass the ball is excellent. I’m not worried at all, Barcelona play without strikers and they keep winning games.”
