Arsene Wenger has admitted he was pleased with Nacho Monreal’s performance on his Arsenal debut.
After Kieran Gibbs’ injury in their 2-2 draw with Liverpool on Wednesday, the Gunners signed the Spanish international left-back from Malaga for £8million on deadline day
But Wenger had no hesitation in giving Monreal his debut in their 1-0 win over Stoke at the Emirates, and the French manager hopes he has already shown why they were quick to snap up the defender.
He said: “I feel overall he has convinced everybody that he has the level to play for us. He was defending [well] and was fluid going forward.
“When he got a bit more relaxed in the second half you could see that he delivered some great crosses. It was a convincing debut.”
