Former Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo could make a return to management with German side Schalke next season, according to Italian TV station Sportmediaset.
Di Matteo, who guided the Blues to Champions League and FA Cup success last season, was harshly dismissed in November following a 3-0 defeat at Juventus.
Chelsea fans were saddened by their former midfielder's sacking and still chant his name in the 16th minute of matches in reference to his old shirt number.
Despite advancing to the next phase of the Champions League, Schalke have endured a turbulent time in recent months and replaced manager Huub Stevens with Jens Keller in December.
However, Keller is only at the club in an interim capacity and the Bundesliga side have already sounded out Di Matteo's agent in regards to taking over in the summer.
