Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe will be sidelined for up to three weeks, according to manager Andre Villas-Boas.
The England international, who is Spurs' top scorer this season with 14 goals, limped off in the first half during his side's 1-0 win at West Brom last weekend.
And the Portuguese boss confirmed the 30-year-old has suffered ankle ligament damage.
He said: "Defoe has small ligament damage. Back in two to three weeks."
The forward will miss forthcoming league fixtures against Newcastle and West Ham, as well as the Europa League double-header against Lyon.
Villas-Boas will be hoping he returns in time for the crunch north London derby at home to Arsenal on March 3.
