Southampton midfielder Steven Davis has credited newly appointed manager Mauricio Pochettino for Saints’ recent impressive performances, following their 3-1 win over Manchester City at St Mary’s.
Davis scored the host’s second goal against the defending champions, capitalising on a blunder by City and England goalkeeper Joe Hart following a strong drive from captain Rickie Lambert.
And the Northern Irishman told talkSPORT that the new boss’ tactics have made the difference in the way the team approach games.
“The manager has come in and made a real impact and the boys are enjoying the way we’re playing,” he told Stan on Call Collymore.
“We’ve shown a great level of consistency since he came in and everybody’s pushing in the same direction.
“It’s obviously hard work because he wants to press high up the pitch.
“He’s stressed that’s how he wants to play and the training’s been hard, but it’s paid off.
“It’s nice to get the rewards from it today, I thought we thoroughly deserved the three points.”
