Exclusive - Mark Bosnich: Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea has proved his critics wrong

Mark Bosnich believes David De Gea has answered all of his critics after a stunning performance against Real Madrid in the Champions League.

The young Spaniard pulled off a number of astonishing saves in the Round of 16 first-leg match to keep the Red Devils in the two-leg tie against the La Liga champions.

And Bosnich, who won the Premier League title with Sir Alex Ferguson’s side in 2000, claims the 22-year-old can now be a fixture in the Old Trafford goal for years to come.

“David De Gea proved everyone wrong against Real Madrid,” Bosnich told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show. “He is an outstanding young talent.

“He’s come to England at a young age and has had to adapt to the culture of high balls during games. It’s taken him a little bit of time to get used to it but he showed his true colours last night.”
