Exclusive - Gareth Bale is becoming the new Ronaldo, says Tottenham legend Ossie Ardiles

Tottenham legend Ossie Ardiles believes Gareth Bale is well on course to become recognised as one of the world’s best players.

Bale has been in sensational form for Spurs in recent weeks, netting six goals in his last four matches for the club.

And Ardiles is confident the Welshman will go on to emulate the success of Real Madrid superstar Ronaldo.

"He is just wonderful and now even his free-kicks are absolutely wonderful. He's very close [to the world’s best]," the Argentine said, speaking to the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast.

"He is improving - every game he is getting better and better and better. He won't like the comparison but he’s becoming the new Ronaldo."
