David Moyes left fuming at referee after Grant Holt’s late Norwich winner

Everton manager David Moyes was left disgruntled as referee Lee Mason allowed Norwich City to score a winner in time beyond the allotted three minutes at the end of the match.

The Toffees had looked like they were about to beat the Canaries 1-0 at Carrow Road following Leon Osman’s first half opener.

But Kei Kamara nodded home an equaliser after 86 minutes and, four minutes beyond the normal 90, Grant Holt bundled the ball home to condemn Moyes’ men to 2-1 defeat.

And the Scottish boss was furious with Mason’s decision to add on more injury time than he had announced.

“I think the last one was well over time,” Moyes grumbled. “I think it’s 16 or 20 seconds over when the goal was scored.

“The referees do have discretion to play what they want but he would need to tell me why it was more than three minutes.

“20 seconds is a long period of time when we’re only talking about three minutes of injury time and for that reason I can’t understand why he’s done it. I don’t see what it was for.”
