Exclusive - Mark Bosnich: Rafa Benitez's main job at Chelsea is to end Frank Lampard and John Terry's Chelsea careers

Mark Bosnich believes Rafa Benitez’s main job at Chelsea is to end the careers of Frank Lampard and John Terry at Chelsea.

The Spaniard was appointed interim first-team manager of the Blues following Roberto Di Matteo’s departure in November 2012, but has failed to get fans onside and launched an astonishing rant at the club and supporters after the 2-0 FA Cup victory over Middlesbrough.

Benitez has dropped club captain John Terry, much to the dismay of the Stamford Bridge faithful, and has failed to secure the future of Frank Lampard, whose contract expires at the end of the season, at the west London club.

And former Blues goalkeeper Bosnich claims the 52-year-old is being used to remove the Chelsea legends, before a new man steps in this summer.

“There are doubts over whether John Terry or Frank Lampard will be there in the future,” he told talkSPORT. “In my opinion, Rafa Benitez has been brought in to ease those two out.

“If they were going to bring a manager in for the long-term he would find it difficult to get rid of the pair, he would immediately be on the wrong side of the fans.”
