Nicky Forster claims Paolo Di Canio is not the right man to replace Brian McDermott at Reading.
The former Swindon boss has been heavily linked with the vacant role at Madejski Stadium, following the shock sacking of McDermott on Monday afternoon.
But ex-Royals striker Forster believes the Berkshire club needs a stable figure, unlike the controversial Italian, at the helm.
“Paolo Di Canio is not the right man for Reading,” he told the Sports Bar. “I’ve got nothing against Paolo but he isn’t quite the right fit for Reading.
“They are a stable club, they go about things in a nice way and that isn’t Paolo. He’s very emotive and wears his heart on his sleeve. He’s in the Gus Poyet mould and Reading don’t seem to be like that. They’re more of a family club."
