Arsene Wenger wants to use Arsenal’s 2-0 second leg win over Bayern Munich as a catalyst for their top four hopes in the Premier League.
The victory at the Allianz Arena wasn’t enough for them to progress to the quarter-finals of the competition as the Germans won on away goals after a 3-3 draw on aggregate.
But beating the Bundesliga leaders on home soil will have boosted the spirits of his charges, and Wenger is hoping that they can now go on and finish in the top four and enter the competition again next season.
He told Sky Sports: "Positives [from the match], of course, were the performance and the spirit. The clean sheet and overall defensively we were very good.
"I am confident we will give everything to come back next season. Our young players did very well. Let’s finish this season strongly."
