Chris Hughton excited by Ricky Van Wolfswinkel’s arrival at Norwich

Sporting Lisbon striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel will sign for Norwich in the summer

Norwich City manager was unable to hide his delight after the club announced they’ve reached an agreement to sign Ricky van Wolfswinkel in July.

The Dutch striker will join the Canaries, subject to paperwork being completed, after two successful seasons in Portugal with Sporting Lisbon.

Van Wolfswinkel has hit 39 goals in all competitions for his current club over two campaigns, while also enjoying excellent goal scoring form for previews sides Vitesse Arnhem and FC Utrecht.

And Hughton reckons capturing the Dutchman is a real coup for Norwich City.

“Ricky’s profile is a perfect fit for us – he’s young, ambitious and a proven goal-scorer,” he told the club’s official website.

“He has an excellent goal-scoring pedigree and he’s a young man very keen to continue his personal progression and to play in England. He’s already an exciting talent but he still has more development as a player ahead of him.

“I’m delighted we’ve been able to agree a deal with Sporting Lisbon and with Ricky and we look forward to welcoming him to the squad in July, once all of the paperwork gets sorted out.”
