Fulham boss Mark Hughes says Mousa Dembele was 'lucky' to escape a serious ankle injury following a horror tackle at Stoke on Tuesday night.
The Belgian striker feared his leg was broken after Andy Wilkinson's X-rated challenge in Stoke's 2-0 Carling Cup victory over the Cottagers.
But scans have revealed that Dembele, 23, has only suffered minor ligament damage and he is expected to return to action within three weeks.
Hughes said: "He has had scans this week. Once the initial impact of the injury settled down it looks like he will be out for two to three weeks.
"After the international break he will be fit and well - he is very lucky.
"I said at the time the challenge was unnecessary and we are thankful it wasn't any more serious than it is. He won't be involved at the weekend."
