Rio Ferdinand has hit back at suggestions he could replace John Terry as England captain, claiming he doesn’t want the armband.

The FA have confirmed that Chelsea defender Terry will not skipper the national side again before he stands trial accused of aiming racist abuse towards QPR's Anton Ferdinand, Rio’s younger brother.

And following speculation that the veteran Man United defender could be in line to regain the honour, he has insisted he is only concerned by his club form.

“I don't want to be england captain,” Ferdinand said on Twitter.

“After the last episode, just want to concentrate on playin for utd&if I make the squad then as ever I'll be delighted [sic]”.
