Arsene Wenger has called on Arsenal fans to get behind the team and support them as they attempt to turn the season into a success.
Following a return of just one point from four games the Gunners slipped to seventh in the Premier League, with fans questioning whether the Frenchman, in his 16th season with the club, was still the man to take them forward.
But Wenger stressed the importance of solidarity in tough times, claiming they are still in the Champions League, still in the FA Cup and can climb back into the top four – but only if the fans back them.
He said: “I don’t think one result is enough [to appease the fans] but we are still qualified in the Champions League, we are qualified in the FA Cup and we have a chance to come back into the top four.
“Of course we are disappointed by our recent results but we have a chance to turn our season into a very positive way, and we need the fans [on our side] to do that.
“When the fans are not happy I am sad as well but we can only achieve something if we keep behind the team and if we fight together until the end of the season.”
