Manchester City have gone three points clear at the top of the Premier League after beating Fulham 3-0 in heavy snow at the Etihad Stadium.

A 1-0 defeat to Everton in midweek threatened to stall their sensational form but Roberto Mancini’s side eased to a comfortable win untroubled by the wintry conditions, which could have caused them difficulties.

Sergio Aguero struck from the spot when Adam Johnson was felled in the area by Chris Baird after 10 minutes to give Man City the lead.

It got worse for Fulham’s Northern Ireland international as he turned Adam Johnson’s rifled shot into his own net on the half-hour mark giving the hosts a 2-0 lead before half-time.

The snow gradually fell more substantially at the Etihad Stadium and, to roars of laughter from the crowd; groundsmen twice had to shovel snow off the pitch to ensure important markings weren’t covered up.

But despite the conditions deteriorating Edin Dzeko rounded off the match converting the ball after good work from strike partner Aguero.

After the defeat Fulham drop to 14th in the Premier League
