Harry Redknapp admits he is flattered to be the favourite for the vacant England job - but says he “couldn’t be happier” at Tottenham.
Redknapp has fast emerged as the people's choice to succeed Fabio Capello and bookmakers have suspending betting on the 64-year-old taking the post.
"Of course it is nice that people put me in a position where they think I've got a chance of getting the job. It is flattering," he admitted.
“Other managers have come out and said nice things and I appreciate everybody's support really."
Redknapp, however, insists it won’t be easy walking away from Tottenham should he be targeted by the Football Association.
“The club have been great to me,” he said. “It couldn’t have gone better for me in the three years I’ve had here and I love every minute of coming here. I’ve got good players, an excellent team, and I couldn’t be happier in my work than I am at the moment.”
It has been suggested Redknapp could combine the England job with his White Hart Lane duties until the summer.
But he has appeared to rule out that prospect, saying: “It’s very difficult. It’s hard enough managing a league club, let alone managing your country.
"I think your focus has got to be on one job. You can't be going home thinking, 'Who's playing well in this situation?'
"I can't take my eye off the ball at Tottenham at the moment because we're looking to get Champions League football, we're still in the FA Cup and I owe it to them to continue to keep completely focused on the job I'm doing here. It wouldn't be fair to anybody here if I started to let my thoughts wander elsewhere.
"Until the question gets asked - no-one has approached Daniel [Levy] - there is nothing for me to consider.
"They may have someone else in mind. We are all guessing. Whoever they pick, I hope they make the right decision. All we can do is see what happens."
