West Brom ran out comfortable winners in the Black Country derby, condemning rivals Wolves to a place in the relegation zone after romping to a 5-1 victory.
Two howlers from Wolves goalkeeper Wayne Hennessy gave Roy Hodgson’s side a major advantage in the closely fought game.
And Mick Mccarthy will surely be left considering his goalkeeping options after another horror show from the 25-year-old Welsh international.
Peter Odemwingie put the Baggies in front after 34 minutes, cutting in from the right before firing past Hennessy from the edge of the box, the Wolves keeper letting the ball slip through his hands.
But the hosts were level on the stroke of half-time when Steven Fletcher’s superb turn and volley gave the Old Gold temporary respite.
The second-half was another story altogether though as West Brom found another gear and killed off their local rivals convincingly with a late surge.
Jonas Olsson put the visitors back in front on 64 minutes, his shot being dropped over the goalline by accident-prone Hennessy.
Odemwingie added a third in the 77th minute from close-range after Marc-Antoine Fortune’s square ball.
Keith Andrews’ scuffed shot from 18-yards made it four and Odemwingie completed his hat-trick with two minutes remaining, shooting past a despairing Hennessy in the Wolves goal.
Wolves are now 18th, on the same points as Queens Park Rangers and Blackburn above them, but behind them on goal difference. West Brom move up to 14th, eight points clear of the bottom three.
