Exclusive - Moxey keen to keep new Wolves boss under wraps

Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey has refused to name any candidates to replace Mick McCarthy at Molineux.

McCarthy was fired following the 5-1 defeat to local rivals West Brom on Sunday and chairman Steve Morgan has already admitted former Charlton and West Ham boss Alan Curbishley is of the right calibre to take over the reins.

But Moxey has told talkSPORT that although the search has started, the club will be aiming to keep their choice under wraps until they unveil him.

“We’ve got two weeks until the game against Newcastle United,” Moxey told Drive Time. “The idea is to try and get somebody in before that.

“Get the right person in as quickly as possible and give them some time, if at all possible, to work with the players and to prepare for a really important game away to Newcastle.

“I’m not going to get drawn on individual names. People are going to speculate, there will be rumours but we know who is out there.

“We have started today, we will carry on doing our business as confidentially as we possibly can and when we are in a position to make the announcement we will be talking to you again.”
