Lescott: 'Tevez return is a massive boost for Man City'

Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott has described Carlos Tevez’s return to the club as a massive boost to their hopes of winning the Premier League title.

Tevez has not played for City since becoming embroiled in a dispute with the club in September following his failure to warm up during a Champions League match against Bayern Munich.

He is now back at Eastlands with the intention of fighting his way back into first-team contention, and has even apologised to the club for his conduct in recent months.

For us Carlos has never been an issue so we’re confident that if he does get a chance he can score a lot of goals.— Joleon Lescott

Lescott has claimed it was never an issue for the players, but does reckon if he can recapture the form he has shown for City previously then he can help them over the finishing line as they battle local rivals Man United for the title.

“It’s a massive boost if Carlos can come back in and hit the form he has shown us over the last couple of years,” Lescott said.

“For us Carlos has never been an issue so we’re confident that if he does get a chance he can score a lot of goals.

“It hasn’t been a situation. He hasn’t been here for the last couple of months but that is an issue that the club has dealt with and the players have got on with the job in hand.

“We’re still performing in the Premier League, it hasn’t affected us in any way and I don’t think it will affect us in the final run in.”
