Villas-Boas denies Cole set for Chelsea axe
Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas has dismissed reports Ashley Cole is facing the Stamford Bridge axe.
Cole is reported to have angrily told Villas-Boas that he would not win trophies with the Portuguese’s tactics and was subsequently left on the bench for the Champions League clash with Napoli on Tuesday.
Roman Abramovich has since alleged to have ordered the sale of the England international in the summer, but Villas-Boas has played down the media claims.
When asked about reports of a rift and plans to sell Cole in the summer, Villas-Boas said: "[They are] not true."
