• Exclusive - Barton: 'The more people cane us, the more we like it'

    Joey Barton has vowed to make Newcastle's critics eat their words this season.

    The newly-promoted Magpies have been written off in many quarters, with pundits predicting another desperate Premier League relegation battle.

    But Sunday's 6-0 home win over Aston Villa has left many experts choking on their words, and Barton intends to make sure that's a regular occurrence.

    He told talkSPORT's Stan Collymore: "We’ve read people say we’re not good enough to stay up. Based on what? We won the Championship at a canter last season so we were more than confident.

    "People wrote us off after losing at Manchester United, but no-one goes there and gets a result. Everyone was quick to write us off and that’s how we like it.

    "The more people cane us, the more we like it. Everything goes up on the board in the dressing room and we come out every week looking to prove people wrong.

    "We could have had eight against a very good Villa side. This won't be an easy place to come for any side to come to."

Pederson ,was involved very early on in the game when he agressively shoulder charged Guiterez into touch and then went down ,guess what Guiterez got penalised and free kick given against him,look at Gutierez face he could not believe it.

Similar situation Pederson off the ball ""shouldered into Barton,"" Barton said something to him and Pederson walked back towards him, Barton open handed pushed him away,on camera it possibly could be interpreted differently and because it is Barton he is automatically at fault! look at facts, the way the team from Blackburn fell down at every opportunity and wasted time,their game plan was obvious and very successful.You can almost hear Alladyce saying try to get Barton off.
