West Ham set to show Spector the door in January

Jonathan Spector could be shown the door by West Ham in the January transfer window after failing to secure a first-team place this season.

Spector, 24, has fallen way down the pecking order following the arrival of Avram Grant as manager during the summer.

The American international has been forced to watch from the sidelines as Lars Jacobsen has cemented his position as the first-choice right back.

With West Ham keen to reduce their crippling debt, Grant is hoping to reduce his squad in January and Spector could emerge as the first player to leave Upton Park.

The former Manchester United defender would be reluctant to drop down into the Championship, but there would be a number of clubs who would be interested in securing his signature.
