Anderson pens new four-year deal at Manchester United

Anderson celebrates scoring for Manchester United against Valencia

Manchester United have tied Anderson down to a new four-year contract at the club.

The Brazilian midfielder joined from Porto for £18m in 2007 and after an impressive first season, his form dipped.

He was involved in a car crash in the summer having missed most of last season with a cruciate knee ligament injury and his days at United seemed to be numbered.

But Anderson has found his form in recent weeks, culminating in a sublime performance against Arsenal last Monday.

And Sir Alex Ferguson has moved to halt any talk over Anderson's future by tying him down to a new deal at Old Trafford that will expire in 2015.

The midfielder had been linked with a move to Panathinaikos but Ferguson has ensured Anderson is staying put.
