Exclusive - Tueart: Man City will survive with or without Tevez

Dennis Tueart insists Manchester City can live without Carlos Tevez if the striker decides to leave this summer.

The Argentine forward has already asked to leave the club in the past year and has been heavily linked with a move to Italy at the end of the season.

But City legend Tueart believes the club can live without the want-away star, who may even have played his last game for the club after picking up a hamstring injury in the Citizens' 3-0 loss to Liverpool.

Speaking to the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show the former winger said: “Players always make comments when they’re a little bit dispirited.

"At the end of the season the review will take place and I’m sure all the owners and executives will sit down and decided which players are going to with us next season.

“We will still have a strong squad next season, don’t worry about that.”

With top-scorer Tevez out of this weekend's game Tueart went on to back Mario Balotelli and Edin Dzeko to step up in tomorrow's FA Cup semi-final at Wembley, saying: “These are the sort of games that as a player, you want to play.

“Dzeko and Balotelli were big signings so it’s a chance for them to stake their claim in a big semi-final, you can’t get bigger than a match at Wembley.

“There has to be a result on the day, so someone’s got to win, you can’t play for a draw and then try and catch people on the break.

“Both teams have big players missing, Rooney is missing for United and Tevez for City, so in my view it’s a question of who gets their team selection correct because United have a big game on Tuesday against Newcastle.

“Man United’s main priority will be the Premier League and Champions League and the FA Cup will be their third priority, so Sir Alex has got to get his team selection right.”
