Arsenal have completed the signing of central defender Sebastien Squillaci from Sevilla.
The Gunners are believed to have paid around £6.5million to land the France international, who follows Laurent Koscielny and Marouane Chamakh to the Emirates this summer.
And Arsene Wenger is delighted to land the 30-year-old, though he will resist the temptation to rush Squillaci into Premier League action against Blackburn this weekend.
“We needed a centre-back of quality and experience if possible, and at the right price - he was all of that,” said Wenger.
“He is a real defender and is good in the one against one, good in the air, and can score goals on set-pieces as well. I believe he will be suited to the English game.
“He will train with us tomorrow morning, but will not be involved on Saturday.”
i believe in intelligent defenders other than powerfull defenders and for that wenger has brought in an asset if one of his qualities is intelligence and being good in the air plus the one on one situation where arsenal has found problems since the retirement and departure of tonny and martin from us . but all in all we need a shot stopper other than pretenders in goal manonne should be given a chance if arsene is not buying. idris kampala
