Tottenham have confirmed the signing of Dutch star Rafael Van der Vaart.
The Holland midfield ace has completed his £8million move to White Hart Lane after the Premier League ratified the deal.
There were fears the move would collapse as officials looked into whether he paperwork had been completed ahead of Tuesday's 6pm deadline.
But it was confirmed on Wednesday that Premier League officials had rubber-stamped the deal.
The Dutch international, who has won 83 caps for his country, will now be eligible to make his debut for Tottenham against West Brom on September 11 when the Premier League resumes after the international break.
Absolute disgrace this deal. How can The FA backtrack on their own rules to accomodate this when they specifically changed the deadline day this time around because of the Arshavin deal in the last window to Arsenal.
I also want to know the finer points on this deal because the day before the transfer window Rafael Van Der Vaart was going to Bayern Munich for 18 million and yet that deal was only made known that it had fallen through at 4pm on transfer deadline day to Harry Redknapp and that the player was now available for 8 million. Had all clubs known he was available for 8 million i'm sure there would have been many bids for him. It smacks of unfair trading because Real Madrid did not want to sell the player to potential rival clubs. Spurs have a long way to go for success the likes of Barcelona, Inter Milan, Chelsea, Man Utd, Arsenal and Liverpool have had and that is why Real Madrid only made Spurs aware of his availability.
I agree that I do have a touch of the green eyed monster about this deal but surely it is not right no matter what my own personal feelings are?
