Rodney Marsh insists Adel Taarabt is 'not a patch' on Stan Bowles and won't suit a struggling Premier League team.
Speaking to the new QPR podcast - Open all R's - Marsh said: "For all the comparisons that have been made between Taarabt and other players, he is not a patch on Stan Bowles."
Marsh, who bagged more than 100 league goals at Loftus Road in the 60s and 70s, added: "I don't see any of Taraabt in myself. I think he's a wonderful talent but has got a serious personality flaw that's not suited to a team that's struggling.
"If QPR struggle for four or five games in a row, you may well see the white flag come out from Adel."
And Marsh fears his former club will face a real battle for survival on their return to the top-flight.
He added: "It's difficult to come into the Premier League and make an impact if you don't spend any money. In the lower divisions you can get away with it, you can't in the Premier League.
"My heart tells me QPR will finish 17th or 18th. I think it will be desperately close but if QPR win only two of their first ten games for instance, it could be a desperately long and hard season."
