Inter Milan are ready to scupper Tottenham's long-standing move for Leandro Damiao by making a bid for the Internacional striker in January.
The Tottenham manager is open to selling Pavlyuchenko in January to fund a move for the Brazil international, having chased him all summer.
Officials from Tottenham and Internacional were locked in negotiations for around two weeks back in July but the clubs could not settle on a fee.
In the end, Damiao signed a new five-year contract at the club but Tottenham believe this was a tactic purely to protect the 22-year-old's market value.
Spurs and Internacional have a good relationship following Sandro's move from the Brazilian club to north London, which was sealed last January.
Redknapp is keen for similar winter success with another Internacional star in Damiao but he now faces a real fight to land his long term target as Inter are keen.
Having sacked Gian Piero Gasperini this week and given the job to Claudio Ranieri, Inter will back their new man in the winter window - but directors at the club are adamant Damiao is the man they want at the San Siro.
Ranieri will be encouraged to make his move for the striker, who has four Brazil caps, in January and the indication is that Internacional are willing to do a deal.
