The future of Arsenal striker Carlos Vela will be decided this summer, according to the Mexican’s loan club Real Sociedad.
Vela, 23, has bagged seven goals and seven assists in La Liga since joining the Basque side on loan at the beginning of the season.
The talented forward has made 62 senior appearances for Arsenal, but it is unclear whether or not he features in Arsene Wenger’s long-term plans.
Vela has already expressed his desire to remain with Sociedad, having previously told Basque newspaper El Diario Vasco: "I would stay at Real. I am happy and the people support me. I owe Arsenal affection and gratitude for the opportunity that they gave me, but I was not happy there and this affected my work.
"It was hard day to day and, when it came to training, I was thinking about going home. Here, however, I am happy and have made good friends."
Sociedad are keen to retain Vela on a long-term basis, with a fee of £4m thought to be enough to secure the Mexican’s signature. However, Sociedad say that Arsenal officials are unwilling to discuss a deal before the summer.
