Arsenal target Olivier Giroud has been told to stay at Montpellier for another year by his club president.
Montpellier are top of Ligue 1, three points clear of rivals PSG and seven clear of third-placed Lille - and are almost guaranteed Champions League football next season.
Now the club's president Louis Nicollin says he is determined to keep Giroud, who has scored 22 goals in 33 appearances this season, and make Arsenal wait.
He told French radio station RMC SPORTS: "He is a smart kid and I hope he stays here. When we play in the Champions League he will help us progress further and I hope he stays another year."
Giroud has a contract until 2014 and is valued at £25m
