Roma have joined the race to sign Manchester United and Manchester City target Mats Hummels this summer.
The two Premier League title hopefuls have been linked with the highly rated central defender, ahead of what could be a busy close season for both clubs.
But, according to Bild, Roma are lining up a bid for Hummels who has become almost ever-present for Dortmund, who wrapped up their second consecutive Bundesliga title last week.
Juventus and Inter Milan are also monitoring the situation closely and could launch bids of their own in the summer.
Hummels, still only 23, is under contract until 2014 and it has been suggested that Dortmund would be unlikely to sell for any less than £20m.
