Arsenal are keen to hijack Ajax star Jan Vertonghen’s proposed move to Tottenham.
The Gunners are interested in the services of the Belgium international and are ready to go head-to-head with their north London rivals for his signature.
On Tuesday, the 25-year-old claimed he wanted to join Spurs, telling De Telegraaf newspaper: "Tottenham is a fantastic football club. Ajax was the perfect club for me, but Spurs will be very close in nearing that already. They buy young, eager and offensive-minded players."
But talkSPORT understands that the defender is also willing to consider a move to the Emirates, if Arsene Wenger can guarantee him first-team football.
The two-times Eredivisie winner has just one year left on his current deal at the Amsterdam Arena and has already pleaded with the board to not stand in his way, should a switch to London become available.
