Anzhi ready to pay £31m for Benfica ace
Anzhi Makhachkala look set to nip ahead of Manchester United and Real Madrid in the race to sign Axel Witsel by submitting a £31.5million bid for the Benfica midfielder.
talkSPORT revealed earlier this week that the Russian side, who are managed by Guus Hiddink and feature the likes of Yuri Zhirkov and Samuel Eto’o in their squad, are now keen to make the 23-year-old their latest big-money acquisition.
And Portuguese newspaper Record claims Hiddink has demanded crunch talks with Benfica president Luis Filipe Vieira as he bids to step up his efforts to bring Witsel to Russia.
