Sevilla reveal Premier League bid for Negredo

An unnamed English club made a deadline day bid for Tottenham target Alvaro Negredo, according to Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido.

Negredo, who was part of Spain's victorious Euro 2012 squad earlier this summer, has attracted interest from a string of Premier League sides, including Liverpool, in recent years.

And according to del Nido, the Spain international, who has scored 47 league goals since joining Sevilla in 2009, was the subject of a failed €20million bid last Friday.

"On the last day [of the transfer window], an English club offered Sevilla 20 millions [euros] for the striker," said del Nido.

"First, we did not think of selling him in the market, but the player also said he wanted to stay at Sevilla. And it was not the day to make sales."
