QPR loan move for Man City striker unlikely, insists Hughes

    John Guidetti

Mark Hughes has played down speculation linking him with a move for Manchester City striker John Guidetti.

It has been suggested that Hughes will seek a new forward in January after Andy Johnson was ruled out for the rest of the season with a cruciate ligament injury.

And Guidetti, who was at City when Hughes was in charge, is reportedly top of the manager's list after a free-scoring spell at Feyenoord last season.

The 20-year-old hit 20 goals in 23 appearances for the Dutch side and his reputation soared during the year-long loan deal.

He is now back at City and struggling to break into the star-studded first team - so another loan spell has been suggested.

But when asked whether he was looking into a move for Guidetti, Hughes said: "It's just speculation.

"It is not to my knowledge that we have made contact."
