Ajax are planning talks with Viktor Fischer over a new contract at the club to ward off interest from Manchester United.
Sir Alex Ferguson tried to land him before he chose Ajax last year after the rookie impressed for Denmark in the Under-17 World Cup, and the Scot remains keen on him.
Fischer has yet to make his senior debut for Ajax but he is expected to feature in the Eredivisie this season.
He caught the eye during last season's inaugural NextGen Series and was Ajax's top scorer with seven goals as they reached the final.
United will continue to monitor the 18-year-old ahead of a possible move, with Fischer entering the final two years of his contract.
But Ajax believe he is one of the club's best prospects in years and will sit down with the youngster in a bid to thrash out a fresh deal.
