Liverpool are emerging as strong contenders to clinch the signature of Torino defender Angelo Ogbonna.
Ogbonna has also been strongly linked with a move to Manchester United following his impressive displays in Serie A.
The 24-year-old was part of Italy's Euro 2012 squad and played a major role in helping Torino gain promotion back into the top flight.
But Italian newspaper Tuttosport is reporting that Liverpool sent scouts to watch Ogbonna in action for Torino against Cagliari on Sunday and that they are making advanced moves to sign the talented defender.
Brendan Rodgers is looking to strengthen his squad when the transfer window re-opens in January and feels Ogbonna can play a major role for the Merseyside club.
