Chelsea to renew interest in Marseille star

Loic Remy celebrates scoring for Marseille

Chelsea are ready to renew their interest in Marseille forward Loic Remy when the transfer window re-opens in January, according to reports in Italy.

The west London club were strongly linked with a move for the France international during the summer, but the transfer never materialised.

Roberto Di Matteo is keen to bring another big-name forward to the club after seeing Didier Drogba leave during the summer and only has Fernando Torres and Daniel Sturridge to choose from.

Several big-name stars, including Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao, have been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.

But reports in Italian newspaper Tuttosport claim Chelsea are making advanced moves to sign Remy and have sent scouts to watch him in action in recent weeks.

A representative from the club was in attendance once again as Remy played for Marseille in the 2-2 draw with Paris Saint-Germain last Sunday.

The reigning European champions have already made a huge success bringing Eden Hazard over from the French League and hope to strike a £15m deal to sign Remy in the New Year.
